The Flesh

The Flesh
I believe that we all have a little bit of both Cain and Abel in us. I believe this is the legacy from the fall. Adam who forsook his friend begat two sons, they each had a piece of him. Cain the part of him that caused the fall questioned God, but Abel was most closely connected to the part of Adam who was created by God, the part who wanted to walk with him again the way he had before. The part who wanted to be faithful to him, this is born out in Abel's offerings. Cain however only makes a halfhearted effort. The part of us that is connected to Abel is the part we listen to when we are worshiping and come forward for an altar call. Then there is the Cain side, the part of us that says its ok go ahead and do it, you will not surely die, you can always get forgiveness later. That is our flesh talking and it is a constant battle for most of us. It is a difficult fight, Abel lost that fight to his brother Cain, but we dont have to fight alone we have been redeemed by Christ, so we can fight, we should fight and we can and will win. We should contend for God, after all he fought for us. We owe him that much.
